Just about every day in life, you are confronted with moral dilemmas and challenges that require some form of action on your part. Unfortunately, in the case of most ethical questions that arise in your daily life, it's not sufficient simply to react by following your heart (or your guts). You need to have clearly thought out moral principles that can help to guide you as your navigate your way through life's difficult decisions. And that exactly why a course in ethics is so essential.
The aim of all of our ethics courses at Molloy is familiarize you with the nuts and bolts of the five great moral theories -- ethical egoism, utilitarianism, deontology, rights theory, and virtue ethics -- and teach you how to apply these theories in your personal and professional life. The goal is not to tell you how to think or to act, but simply to provide you with a framework for your moral decision-making. The rest, as they say, is entirely up to you!
